I Love this book. I like to read from the beginning and let me tell you, the first 16 Mind Hacks for Writers are wonderful. I'm using these ideas to create Video guitar lessons and have written my Focus statement from Mind Hack#6. I envision myself as I Video record my lessons. The greatest break through for me is my "Steps to Make a Video Series" which I wrote today after reading about how to establish daily goals for your writing and I also started to write a script for the first video of my next series. I also now have a Vision for working on my next Video lesson series as a work of pleasure instead of frustration. I feel greatly encouraged by Karen's advice in this book. I wrote my Pickup Plan also from Mind Hack#16. Great stuff!

This isn't the first book of Karen and Steve Dimmick that I've read. They as authors have the ability to talk directly to the reader as if we we're having a cup of coffee together. So I knew the book would be awesome before reading it, and I was right. 47 Mind Hacks for Writers is full of "Aha!" moments. It's really easy to see myself in every "hack" and how I was doing something and how easy it is (mostly) to fix it and keep writing. For me it was like having an old friend sit me down and tell me how I am capable of doing things that I thought I couldn't do. It feels personal, like it was written especially for me. I want to add: The quotes at the beginning of each chapter are amazing, and quite inspiring. This book belongs in my personal bookshelf, so I can always pick it up and re-read it anytime I need.
This book is applicable to more than just writer's block! Great strategies for reaching your goals and getting things done by developing important skills like positive mindset and time management!! I loved that I could jump around and didn't necessarily have to read each mind hack in order and I could pick and choose which exercises to do depending on what I was struggling with. A valuable resource which I plan to refer to over and over 🙂
Wow! A truly great book for those of us who suffer from not only writer's block, but also from procrastination and distraction. This book will not only be a great future reference in my writing endeavors, but for my day to day life as well. Karen and Steve have set up this wonderful book in such a way that you can easily bounce around from one "mind hack" to the next. Wonderfully written, as if they were talking to you personally.
